What is Email Marketing? Does it work? Why are you doing it?
Email marketing simply means promoting (advertising) something by sending an email. This is the spam mail that many people talk about.
Many people will think that no one likes to receive spam emails. Any modern people living on the Internet have experienced bother and annoyance from the damage of such spam advertisements?
But why do these ads keep hitting the market? How many people see spam mail?
1. Does anyone see spam emails?
The table above summarizes the results of email marketing.
The marketer sent 100,000 emails. However, due to some internet error, 4870 were not sent, and the remaining 95,130 were successfully sent.
And among them, as many as 22,000 people opened emails. About 23% opened it. It is a very high rate. Perhaps it was content that people would be very interested in or a title that was reliable. And about 7,000 people clicked on the ad’s content.
This is a slightly different result. This time, only 2,200 out of 100,000 clicked. Although more people opened the mail than before, the percentage of clicking the advertisement content even after viewing the mail was lower than before.
In this way, email marketing always has different results.

Various conditions affect the content of the mail, the subject of the mail, the relationship between the recipients and the sender, when the mail was received, and so on.
Anyway, even if it is spam mail, there are people who open the mail. If someone who was interested in toy drones opened their mailbox and saw a spam e-mail saying “Drones are sold cheaply” in the subject of the e-mail, there is a high probability that they will click on it even though they know it is an advertisement.
It’s spam only when I’m bothered by it. Information that I like becomes a useful advertising email.
In other words, email marketing is a way to send out a lot of emails and rescue the few who click on them.
2. Effects of Spam Mail
As shown in the table above, there are people who open spam mail. There are people who are interested in the product and even click on it and buy it. Therefore, it can be seen that there is an effect of advertising.
If so, the problem is overrun next.
So how much labor would you have invested in sending 100,000 emails? If you have a hard time sending too many emails, this marketing can be inefficient.
However, if you can tell the conclusion with fineness, it is this.
“I can send 100,000 emails with a single click from my computer.”
This is because a computer program automatically sends an email.
In other words, if you have a program (software) that can send 100,000 emails, you can do this very easily. Therefore, online marketers have developed and used numerous programs such as e-mail collectors and e-mail senders.
3. War between those who want to send and those who want to stop
So, shouldn’t spam marketers be prevented from sending such large volumes of mail? Shouldn’t tens of thousands of people be prevented from taking damage in order to convey information to only a few hundred people?
Naturally, various efforts are being made to prevent this.
The information and communication law was enacted to make a law to punish those who send advertisement mail, and portal companies are continuously developing and researching a system that blocks spam mail by analyzing the contents of numerous emails.
But isn’t it because you’re scared of maggots and you can’t make it, and you’re scared of the police and the thief disappears? Just as viruses continue to appear no matter how much vaccines are developed, there is an endless battle to block and breakthrough spam emails.
So why are marketers trying to do spam email marketing so intensely?
4. It is too hard to eat and live.
It’s trying to eat everything. It may be difficult to understand what it means for children who receive pocket money from mom and dad, or workers who receive a salary. Are there some things in the world that are hard to understand without taking that position?
For some entrepreneurs, “advertising” can be an enormously important thing with the life of their company. That’s why you have to advertise whatever you spend and consume a lot of effort and money.
Then, they send spam texts, spread flyers, and send spam emails. Expenditures are poured into marketing according to the stars. This is what I do because I try hard to live by eating everything.
Then, when they are reported, they pay fines, they are cursed for being spam, they only get paid for advertising, and they suffer all the extraordinary things. Sometimes, we look closely at the effectiveness of advertising.
What counts in the businessman’s head is profit and loss. If one million spam emails are sent, the amount that is reported and fined is about 1 million won, and if the profit from advertising is 3 million won, the spam email advertisement is worth 2 million won. If so, the businessman might decide that he should continue to advertise spam mail.
Whether it is ethical or not is only a margin that can be made once the problem of eating and living is resolved. If this business collapses, it may go bankrupt and our family will be driven to the streets, which may lead to homelessness, but a lot of unspecified people who do not know who it is should be a little uncomfortable.
Have you ever seen some really powerful big companies advertise spam emails? I have never seen it. Powerful conglomerates advertise on TV, and advertise confidently through formal advertising media. It takes a lot of money to properly advertise in such a place because they have the ability to do so.
